WHEN TO SHOOT YOUR SENIOR SESSION : PORTLAND SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER
Apr 11, 2016 | By: AKP
College applications, Senior Class activities, sports and (of course) academics can make Senior year a marathon of decisions and choices! Choosing when to shoot your Senior Session will be an easy to make after considering this quick series of questions!
There are many things to factor into the decision of when to schedule your Senior Photos. The time of year, favorite sports (and having the uniform!), locations with special meaning, and finding the right photographer for you can all impact your choice.
Here are a few things to think about:
Is there a certain time of year that you LOVE? To a degree, we can “fake” any season in the photos with outfit and location choice. For Fall/Winter feeling shots taken in the Spring or Summer we can layer clothing to get that look of Fall portraits.
There are deadlines for the yearbook ad submission and I can help you schedule your session date in advance of that time so we can design a custom ad if you wish. This is the perfect way to show off a few of your favorite images from your senior session. All formal Senior Photos are done at the school. The yearbook does not accept any outside photos for the formal photos.
Is there something special that you are wanting out of your senior images? For example a sunrise or sunset shot, images on a beach or with water? These different variables will also determine the time of day that we shoot.
Are you going to have your hair and make-up professionally done? I recommend planning for 1 ½-2 hours for hair and make-up if you are going to a salon. I would also highly encourage you to use a professional hair and make-up artist as they are familiar with styles that will last all day and night for weddings, proms, and photo shoots.
There is so much to consider during this amazing last year of high school! Whatever you picture your session to be, make sure you book as early as you can!
